Ranting bout things, Part - 1

Since we parted ways after college, my friends and I rarely meet. When we meet or connect over the phone, we spend majority of the time complaining about how broken the organization we work is, how unfair our manager treats us and how we are working / doing something we do not like.

It is very rare to meet a person who says that they're actually enjoying the work they do everyday. The compromise we do here is, getting paid for doing this work that we hate. I'm using the word HATE cause

  • Doing something we are not interested leads to
  • Not liking that some work we do leads to
  • HATE the work we do.

We develop hate, frustration, anger, losing interest in things, absent minded and other beautiful "qualities" over the time doing this work. When folks to whom you report to, asks / demands you to work more or do the work faster, we will show off these new qualities to the ones around us, which really is messed up. They deserve better. "Misplaced Anger" happens, which is understandable.

"The youth is the hope of our future" says everyone, but when the youth is broken by all these above way of life, how can one think straight? Maybe things are different in different areas of work. I'm ranting about how things work in IT. I work in IT and so does my friends, I have a decent idea on how things work here.

As far as I know, majority of my friends are not happy doing their job. The reason you ask? it's simple. They are asked to do something they don't like. For instance, a person who like to code is given a software support role where as the dude who likes to support is asked to code.

As mentioned earlier, we are paid for doing this work. But,

how many of us have lost our dreams doing this work?

How many of us have forgotten the plans we had made for our future?

How many compromises?

End of the day, are we happy sacrificing so much?

Earning money is a must, but why have we made money as the master who controls each and every aspect of our life? If you really think about it, all these sacrifices and compromises are made for money. Dreams are broken, talents are forgotten, new dreams are set as well as new commitments, which buries the original dreams. We have come to a point where we cannot survive without money.

Or can we?

PLS ADVISE.
